Veterarn 50 Women's Sabre medal winners

The four medal winners of the 2017 Pan American Veterans 50 Women Sabre Championships

Salle Green fencer Dede Deane earned a Bronze Medal, placing Third, in Veteran 50 Women’s Sabre, at the Pan American Veterans Championships at the University of the Virgin Islands in Saint Thomas on 27 July.  And on 29 July she placed fifth in Veterans 60 Women’s Sabre.  We were immensely proud of Dede when she was selected for the United States Team for the Championships, her second international team selection.  As you can imagine, our members were really excited when we learned of placings in the tournament.  Her Bronze is her third international medal, with previous 3rd Place and 2nd Place medals in the prestigious Can-Am Veterans Cup held annually in Canada.

The Pan American Veterans Championship, one of three zonal championships for the hemisphere, was fenced concurrently with the Pan American Youth Championships.  Entries included 314 fencers from 10 countries representing North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean competed:  Barbados, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, the United States, and the Virgin Islands.
