Salle Green a modern and classical fencing school
Salle Policies - Safety Policy (Section I-B. Athletes' Handbook) |
Salle Green provides a safe environment for its coaching staff and fencing and cane students through a six phase approach and the clear identification of responsibilities.
FIRST PHASE – Facilities, Weapons, and Uniforms
Facilities are maintained clean and in good condition.
Weapons are cleaned and repaired as required after each use.
Salle uniforms are laundered daily, and masks and gloves used by students are assigned to an individual to limit the spread of infections.
SECOND PHASE – Screening of Students
Salle members complete a health history form – these are screened to identify any conditions that may make fencing hazardous for the fencer.
All new adult students will complete a basic participation questionnaire designed to identify cardiac health problems.
We will work with you and your health care provider to tailor activity to a level appropriate for your health status.
THIRD PHASE – Effective Instruction
All instructors are either certified as professional coaches by the United States Fencing Coaches Association or are working under a professional’s supervision to earn coaching certification.
All lessons and class activities are lesson planned.
Skills progression systems for modern, classical, and under-10 youth fencing, historical swordsmanship, and cane provide structured learning environment.
All lessons include activities designed to properly prepare and condition students for physical activity.
Student activity levels are tracked on a monthly basis, and lessons completed on a daily basis.
FOURTH PHASE – Preparation for Competition
Established progression of internal Salle competitions and American Fencing League tournaments prepare students for participation in amateur sport.
FIFTH PHASE – Enforcement of the Rules and Customs of the Sport
Because the rules and customs of the sport are key to preventing accidents, the Salle enforces the applicable rules of fencing, its own safety rules, and its own customs of the salle.
