Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available from our front page and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.  Please note that information you provide is discoverable in legal proceedings and may be demanded from us by the Federal government for law enforcement purposes under the provisions of the USA PATRIOT Act or other statutes and regulations - any statements in this policy regarding protection of privacy are subject to those limitations.

The Information We Collect:

This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on Salle Green's website.  All information submitted electronically is transmitted from the site to the Salle's e-mail address as a form e-mail, and is printed and stored as a paper record.  Except as noted below for competition results and data in the Fencing Master Project no data is stored electronically online.

The Fencing Master Project - on this page you can submit information on fencing professionals of any rank, either living or deceased of any date from 1200 CE to today.  We collect:

        Professional ranks held

        Date of award of credential

        Teaching affiliations

        Other pertinent information

        Source of the information

        Name of submitter

        E-mail of submitter

The Way We Use Information:

Information gathered on this website is not provided to other individuals or businesses or resold to vendors and is not made public in any way under any conditions, with the exceptions noted below, and subject to the limitations noted above.  We use e-mail addresses to answer the e-mail we receive.

For Further Information - we use this information to answer your questions about taking classes at Salle Green and to provide you additional information about our fencing programs including routine e-mailings of our newsletter.  You may at any time request to be dropped from our mailing list by e-mail to wgreen@sallegreen.com.

Classes Offered - we use this information to register you for a class and to establish your individual student record folder, a physical record of all of your activity as a Salle member.  Data on age is used to ensure appropriateness of the class and for parental permission.  Data on gender, hand, and T-shirt size is used to assure that we have appropriate protective equipment available for your use. 

Salle Green Competition Online Registration - we use this data to seed competitions using standard tournament management software.  The results of these tournaments are posted on the Salle's competition results pages.  This is a standard practice in the sport.

The Fencing Master Project - we use this data to maintain an online database of fencing professionals from 1200Ce to the present date.  All information about the individuals submitted may be published, but only the name and date of the source will be listed in the citations in accordance with accepted academic standards for the identification of sources.  Your e-mail address may be used by us to contact you for further information or to verify submission of an entry. 

Data Security:

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.  No information that we collect online is stored online or available through electronic means with the exception of the results of Salle Tournaments and the names and qualifications of fencing professionals and the source for that information in the Fencing Master Project.

Children's Privacy:

The sport of fencing has a strong national youth development program (see the United States Fencing Association's Youth Program), and we encourage interest and participation in fencing by children of age 6 and up (see our page for Parents) with appropriate parental supervision and participation.  To ensure that your children's privacy is protected, we require that inquiries by young adults and children under age 18 include the name and telephone number of a parent.  If your child's inquiry does not meet with your approval, their information will be immediately deleted from our contact lists.

How You Can Access Or Correct Your Information:

You can access all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain in paper copy by visiting our office at 11058 Washington Highway to review your physical records.  We use this procedure to better safeguard your information.

You can correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information by request in person or by e-mail, subject to verification.

To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections.
