CAA Pursues NCACE Accreditation

The Classical Academy of Arms, our affiliated center for classical fencing, has started the process of working toward accreditation as a coaching education body by the National Committee for Accreditation of Coaching Education.  The NCACE is the accreditation arm of the United States Center for Coaching Excellence, of which the Classical Academy of Arms is an organizational member.  NCACE accreditation is a rigorous process used by universities and major sports organizations to ensure quality of coach training.  This will verify that the fencing coaches we train are fully prepared to teach classical fencing and will significantly increase the value of the Classical Fencing Demonstrator through Classical Fencing Master credentials the Academy awards.  This is a 3 year process – CAA has completed the first phase: Preliminary Program Assessment.  As far as we can tell, the CAA’s program is the first fencing coach training program to undertake formal educational accreditation in the United States.
